WELCOME/INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:

Brigid Lossing opened the meeting at 7:21.

Maria Whittaker was a guest this evening and Paul Battle was present for the speakers presentation.

Roll was taken, seven members and one guest were present.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Brigid Lossing

Former President Comeau’s report published in the WRIT.

VICE PRESIDENT/MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – Lucinda M. Malocha

No report. Cindy announced that she had sent thank you letters to Janette Carras and Maureen Proffitt for reviewing their membership.

SECRETARY’S REPORT – Karen L. Levinski

Published in the WRIT.

As Secretary I sent out a condolence card to Jan Morrison, a former member, on the death of her mother.

I read two thank you cards. Teresa Comeau thanked the membership for their assistance in her presidency during the last two years. Jan Morrison thanked the membership for sending a card and thinking of her in the loss of her mother.

Teresa read a thank you letter from NALS of Michigan for our donation to the scholarship fund for annual meeting.

Brigid, Janette and Teresa made some comments about Annual Meeting. Each attendee will write a report about the various meetings for the membership and publish in the Writ.

Brigid would like to start a program where different members go to various Bar Association luncheon meetings and make a five minute presentation regarding our association. We would do this as a way of promoting our association and getting new membership.

Brigid said at the Annual Meeting PLS Certification was discussed and had a lot of interest. She would like to know how many in our local Association would be interested in getting certified. We will discuss at future meeting.

Officer visitation was discussed. It was decided we would ask for Marian Stone, our Second Vice President as a first choice.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Teresa Comeau made an announcement that she is now Audit Chairperson for the State Association.

EC meeting will be held June 5, 2001 at the Saline Library, Saline, MI.
