How do I turn off automatic paragraph numbering?
If you do not want automatic paragraph numbers to appear when you press ENTER after typing a numbered paragraph, select Tools, QuickCorrect and click the Format-As-You-Go tab. Uncheck the box that says "Quick Bullets - Lists and outlines created as you type."
My comment balloons aren't showing in the margin.
If you cannot see the comment balloon in the margin, try changing your zoom setting to "Page Width." View, Zoom, Page Width.
It takes me too long to get to the file I need to open.
If you know the path and file name, you may type them directly into the Name box in the File Open dialog. You may also save frequently accessed files and folders in Favorites. To do this, from File, Open, go to the folder you want to add to favorites. Click the Add to Favorites button on the toolbar (yellow file folder with + sign on it).
How do you get WordPerfect to open to the last folder accessed?
Select File, Open and choose Edit, Change Default Folder.
I'm using smart quotes, but I want a straight quote (apostrophe) before numbers. How do I do this?
Type a second apostrophe after the first one, then delete the first
apostrophe. This will not give you a sraight quote, but the apostrophe will be facing the right direction. For a straight quote, apply a sans serif font such as Arial to the apostrophe and assign it as a quick words.
