You probably have a second section in your document that is set to have no page numbers on the first page. Go to (CTRL+G) section 2 then select File, Page Setup, Layout. Under Headers and Footers, uncheck Different first page.

  3

Go to Tools, AutoCorrect and either 1) remove i from the list of AutoCorrect items.

  4

Select Table, Cell Height & Width. Uncheck Allow row to break across pages.

  5

You are probably in full screen view. Press Alt+V to display the view menu and select full screen.

Here are a few pointers for former WordPerfect users:
- Select! Remember to select text before formatting it. For example, in WordPerfect, if you insert a bold command within unselected text, all text from the insertion point forward becomes bold. With Word, you must select the text you wish to format. Exceptions: character formatting a single word, or paragraph formatting the current paragraph.
- Under Tools, Options, General, check Help for WordPerfect users. This will display help on how to perform certain functions in Word when you press the WordPerfect key(s) for the function. Caution: Use this feature during the training stage only. If you want to become a proficient Word user, don't let these alternate key mappings prevent you from learning the real Word keystrokes.

  7

Word is "guessing" that if you bring the first line of the text in more than one tab, that you want to indent subsequent lines of the paragraph. To turn off this feature, select Tools, Options and click the Edit tab. Uncheck the box that says "Tabs and Backspace set left indent."

  8

Hold down the Shift key when you pull down the File menu. This adds a Close All choice to the File menu.
