Here are a few pointers for former WordPerfect users:
- Select! Remember to select text before formatting it. For example, in WordPerfect, if you insert a bold command within unselected text, all text from the insertion point forward becomes bold. With Word, you must select the text you wish to format. Exceptions: character formatting a single word, or paragraph formatting the current paragraph.
- Under Tools, Options, General, check Help for WordPerfect users. This will display help on how to perform certain functions in Word when you press the WordPerfect key(s) for the function. Caution: Use this feature during the training stage only. If you want to become a proficient Word user, don't let these alternate key mappings prevent you from learning the real Word keystrokes.
